A little bit about me
My name is Maresa and I am the owner/founder of MAC Rattery. I fell in love with rats when I was 18 and snuck the first one into my parents house after my beloved mouse Squeakers died. I convinced them she is just an over sized mouse. Ha ha :) So that's how I got hooked. I didn't start breeding until many years later (2006) It all started with my hairless line and my marked line. I Started the rattery in 2007 . Joined NARR in November 2009 I believe. We no longer use NARR for our pedigree software. We use Breeders Assistant. All my rats are on my BA and are pedigreed.
I'm work at a vet hospital as a tech, I've been at the same practice since 1999. I am a certified dog trainer with Animal Behavioral College. I show and rescue Chinese Cresteds. I do not breed, I planned to but my female failed her genetic testing and came back as a carrier for VwD (Von Willebrand Disease) and was spayed and retired from showing. We have a new Powder Puff, we are hoping to start to show soon.
I was also the rescue coordinator and the Vice President for the Chinese Crested Club of Potomac from 2007-2012. So if you enjoy the breed and are looking for one let me know, we may have a foster looking for that forever home. We also foster retired racing greyhound, we lost or wonderful racer at the age of 12 1/2 yrs old and decided not to adopt again, but to foster, so we could help more dogs.
I have 4 chickens that provide us with eggs everyday. The rats LOVE hard boiled eggs. This rattery does not breed for feeders, we are a pet/show rat breeder only. My rats mean a lot to me and they won't go to just anyone. Thank you and hope you enjoy the site and pictures. God has bless us with our beautiful sweet rats, that I hope to share with you.
We love our dogs here at MAC too. We showed our Crested in the AKC conformation ring. We also do dock diving, and barn hunting.
Below is my first rat, her name was Nala, she was a typical hooded doe. She came from Pet-Land in Paducah Kentucky. She started my rattie passion.
